Watch out for Curve Blackberry 8520 – The Bold2 9700 is on it’s way
I know I created some crazy buzz when I posted my review calling the Blackberry Tour a waste of money compared to a Bold, and I stand by that for the most part. I agree though that – that particular device may have been aimed at a different crowd. Someone who doesn’t need every feature at their fingertips and likes living without (Okay, I’m being sarcastic… I’m sorry!)
Well, last week, Rogers wireless released the Blackberry 8520 and I have to say I was quick to skim it over and fast to say, no thank you.. But it was hard. It’s newer, smaller and it has the TRACKPAD we’ve all been waiting for. I dunno about you but i’m tired of cleaning those balls! I’m not even going to discuss the last time I got chicken grease from KFC or some other nasty thing inside there… Hey! I had to check my email, right?
But, Sadly, the curve 8520 is smaller.. .
But the 2Megapixel camera,
No GPS,
Doesn’t play all video formats,
Small resolution of 320×240 (Bold’s have 480×320)
It’s a student Blackberry , not a power user “gotta have the latest” Blackberry.
This post isn’t to knock a basic entry level Blackberry though. My entry into the high end Blackberry world was also Via a Curve and I have nothing but good things to say about my first Curve (except it had GPS!!)
ENTER THE BOLD2 9700 (AKA Onxy) Versus The Blackberry Bold 9000
There’s nothing major to report about the new Bold coming out ANY day now. Nothing major except it’s worth the upgrade just for the new trackpad alone. I’ve compared them feature by feature both technically and physically and here’s the bottom line IMPROVEMENTS (and there is zero missing from the Bold 9700, 100% nothing but improvements)…
3.2 Megapixel camera (Bold has a 2mega)
The Bold2 (Aka 9700) Supports Flash!
It’s smaller and lighter
Battery: The bold had 10 days standby and 4 hours talk time. The 9700 has 19 days standby and 6 hrs talk time.
OLD BOLD: Half VGA 480×320 pixel color display
NEW BOLD: High-resolution 480×360 pixel color display
Of course the trackpad is a nice enhancement too
AND the newer operating system
Beyond that there’s only minor tweaks to the new version you’ll barely notice.
Until Next Time
